If you’ve spent time at Approved Textiles, you’ve likely noticed the black and white quilted wall hangings by Matthew Addonizio—some small, some strikingly large. These studies in geometry, balance, and texture have quietly become part of our space’s identity.
Since the day we opened, visitors have asked: “Will you ever teach a class like that?”
Here it is.
With exclusive access to the Approved Textiles scrap bin, this multi-day workshop invites students into a thoughtful, hands-on process that mirrors Matthew’s own: research, sketching, design, and construction, all culminating in a fully finished wall hanging (maximum dimensions: 22 x 32”). The price includes all materials and tools.
Along the way, you’ll explore your own composition style, experiment with hand piecing, and reflect on how fabric can carry meaning, memory, and story.
This is more than a sewing class—it’s a quiet, cumulative process with time to focus, pause, and return.
The final class will include a mini-gallery installation of everyone’s work during Fourth Fridays, Fabric Row’s response to Old City’s First Fridays.
We’re offering this workshop twice:
JULY SERIES
Fridays, July 11, 18, 25
10 AM to 12 PM
AUGUST SERIES
Fridays, August 8, 15, 22
10 AM to 12 PM
The cost of this class includes all materials and reflects our commitment to paying our instructors a living wage. The multiday workshop is 390.00.
Class Exchange Policy
We’re happy to move your booking to a different date for the same class, as long as we hear from you more than 48 hours before class begins. Just email us at inquiry@approved-textiles.com, and we’ll take care of it.
If your request comes in less than 48 hours before class starts, we won’t be able to reschedule you—but we can offer you 50% off your next booking for the same class.
We know life happens. This policy helps us keep our small class sizes sustainable for our shop, our teachers, and our community. Thanks for understanding.
