This pillow starts in Phulia, West Bengal, where the cloth was handwoven and dyed in natural indigo. The fabric itself is a wool–cotton blend—soft enough to lean into, sturdy enough to last.
Back here in Philadelphia, we layered appliqué shapes over that pale blue ground and stitched it through with kantha. Appliqué has roots across Europe, kantha belongs to India and Bangladesh, and when they meet, you realize these techniques aren’t so far apart. Different continents, same impulse: to patch, layer, and stitch cloth into something that holds.
Every pillow comes out a little different, because that’s what happens when human hands are doing the work.

Care
Spot clean with cold water and mild soap. Air dry flat. Indigo will shift with time—don’t fight it, just keep it out of long hours in direct sun.
