Mending our knitwear helps us slow down consumption and deepen our connection to the clothes we wear.

Darning is a visible mending technique rooted in European repair traditions, with even older origins in Nålebinding—a pre-knitting method used across Scandinavia and parts of Eastern Europe. Unlike woven fabrics, knits require a different kind of attention: they stretch, flex, and unravel in ways that make repair both delicate and deeply satisfying.

This is the perfect summer class to prepare your cold-weather gear for when it’s time. That sweater you promised to fix this summer? Now’s your chance.

We’ll focus on stabilizing, reinforcing, and rebuilding holes in knit garments like sweaters, socks, scarves, and beanies. You’ll learn darning tools and techniques that create a flexible woven patch atop stretchy material—either hidden or decorative.

We’ll provide yarn and darning eggs, but feel free to bring your favorite tools from home. And as always, if you bring your own materials, we’ll thank you with a little something extra.

The cost of this class includes all materials and reflects our commitment to paying our instructors a living wage. 2-hour classes are 68.00.

Class Exchange Policy

We’re happy to move your booking to a different date for the same class, as long as we hear from you more than 48 hours before class begins. Just email us at inquiry@approved-textiles.com, and we’ll take care of it.

If your request comes in less than 48 hours before class starts, we won’t be able to reschedule you—but we can offer you 50% off your next booking for the same class.

We know life happens. This policy helps us keep our small class sizes sustainable for our shop, our teachers, and our community. Thanks for understanding.
