The cloth for this one also comes from Phulia, West Bengal—woven by handloom and dyed in deep, natural indigo. It’s a wool–cotton blend with real presence: not flimsy, not precious, just right.
In our Philadelphia studio, Matthew Addonizio cut and pieced the fabric into patchwork that nods to both bojagi, the Korean tradition, and Appalachian patchwork: making new cloth out of fragments. Different places, same instinct to cut and rejoin, to make beauty out of what’s at hand. That’s the kind of parallel we love: two traditions separated by oceans, meeting on a pillow.
Each piece is stitched together one at a time. It takes longer, but that’s how you get something worth keeping.

Care
Spot clean with cold water and mild soap. Air dry flat. Indigo will shift with time—don’t fight it, just keep it out of long hours in direct sun. Be mindful that darker indigo may transfer onto lighter fabrics.
