Handwoven in Philadelphia on a wooden loom built from a backyard cherry tree, these linen towels are Suzanna’s final Philadelphia collection—woven as she prepared to leave the city that helped shape her as a weaver, dyer, and artist.
“I dye the yarn first and then I weave it together.”
Crafted from 100% unbleached Lithuanian linen and naturally dyed with either madder root or onion skins, each towel carries the story of sustainable practice and joyful experimentation. Suzanna’s use of natural dyes is rooted in both environmental care and creative play:
“I love being able to work with something that collects in the kitchen…
Madder root is colorfast, lightfast, and I can keep reusing the dye baths.”
No synthetic dyes. No plastic fibers. Just thoughtfully sourced materials, reused dye water, and a deep commitment to waste reduction:
“I save every offcut from the loom… I make ornaments, tassels, or find a way to put it in the packaging.”
Each towel is one of a kind and named for the joy it evokes:
“With the scrapiness of them and the tassels at the end, they made me think about carnivals and summer and fun.”
