Join us at the shop to learn the art of Japanese Boro Stitching! Boro is a repetitive patching and stitching process to repair utilitarian textiles like garments, pillows, quilts, towels, etc.
In this class, we'll use patches of scrap handloom fabric and a variety of stitching techniques to create a custom denim tote bag. We'll discuss the differences between Boro, Sashiko, Kantha, and Quilting and explore how to use this practical patchwork method as an intuitive compositional art form.
The cost of the class includes..
- a beautiful denim carryall tote by Utilitario Mexicano (48.00)
- persimmon tannin-dyed thread (5.80)
- sashiko needles (4.50)
- a variety of handloom fabric patches
- individualized guided instruction, and a fun evening of drinks and snacks.
Our shop is tiny, so capacity is limited to 4 people.
